| Newegg rocks
dude with the router problem your westel DSL Model most probably has a built in router, all you needed was a network switch (hub)to run multiple PC's. or disable the router (disable DHCP) in your Modem and the new router should work. verify there is a router in your modem (all my westel modem's did) and buy a switch. if your ip address looks like this 192.168.X.X your behind a router. And even if newegg sent two bad routers, they can't check every product. it was a manufacturer issue. but in your case it was probably a I don't know how to set it up and tech support is stupid issue. |

| you need to change your subnet settings
I can't believev tech support didn't know this. it wasn't a bad router, it's an IP address conflict because you LAN and WAN addresses cannot be the same, but the DSL modem uses DHCP to assign the WAN address to the router, which uses that same address as its own internal address. Since this is impossible, nothing works. it's pretty easy to just go into the router setup and change your addressing scheme to like a 10.0.0.1 for example. this will completely avoid that conflict.

| Lousy, lousy experience with defective Linksys WRT54GL routers.
I ordered a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router which would not connect to the internet via my Verizon DSL account. I spent hours on the phone with Linksys technical support until they gave up and told me to return the router. So I had to pay over $7 to ship it back to newegg for replacement. They sent me another defective router! Now I have to pay a $10 restocking fee plus the shipping fee to get it back to them.
Incidentally, my old router connects easily using default settings to either of two Westell DSL modems via DHCP. Guess I'll be using it for a while longer.
NEVER BUY FROM NEWEGG!!!
